Sam YG to leave radio station after 17 years

Radio and TV personality Sam YG confirmed his resignation from Magic 89.9 after 17 years, although he clarified that he left on amicable terms.
Sam YG, whose real name is Samir Gogna, made the announcement on his Instagram account on Friday, Oct. 6, where he admitted that leaving the radio station was a “big decision.”
“To everyone asking… Yes, it is true that I am resigning from @magic899. Big decision and bigger things ahead. Will talk more about it soon. Happy weekend,” his post read, which was captioned with the words, “End of an era.”

Sam YG anchors the wildly successful radio talk show “Boys Night Out” (BNO) with fellow original hosts Tony Toni (Anthony James Bueno) and Slick Rick (Eric Virata). The show, which has spanned 17 years, having started March 2006.
In a separate post, Sam YG pointed out that he departed from the station on amicable terms, and will continue to serve as the host of the radio show until “the end of November.”
“Just to be clear. Walang nag-away. Walang nagkagalit (No one fought. No one was mad at each other),” he said. “I believe I’ve given my all these past 17 years and I will forever be grateful for all the lessons I’ve learned and the lives I’ve touched.”
“[As much] as it pains me to leave [‘Boys Night Out’], I’m also excited for what’s ahead. I’ll be staying till the end of November so till then… Let’s make every show count and do @boysnightout899 like we’ve never done before, shall we?” he further said.

In his post, Sam YG also clarified that he wouldn’t be “leaving the country” and will still be open to hosting gigs, but jokingly stressed that he’s not open to hosting “children’s parties.”
“I’m not leaving the [country] and I’ll still be hosting corporate/TV shows, events, weddings, and everything in between. PS: Wag lang children’s parties (Just not children’s parties),” he said without disclosing his upcoming plans.
Sam YG previously joined the original “Eat Bulaga” cast led by Tito and Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon, before leaving in 2016. EDV
