Gerald Anderson did not directly answer if he has plans to marry his girlfriend Julia Barretto, although he noted that they will take their relationship to the next level at the right time.
“Sasabihin namin sa inyo? Sasabihin namin sa CNN? Mas marami pang problema sa mundo kaysa sa’min (We’ll tell you? We’ll tell CNN? There are many problems in the world aside from our relationship),” Anderson told reporters on the sidelines of the ABS-CBN Ball last Sept. 30. He was accompanied by Barretto during the interview.
The actor then laughed with his girlfriend, while appearing to clarify that they will tie the knot at the right time.
“Dadating tayo. Darating tayo, basta. Basta (We’ll get there. We’ll get there. Whenever, wherever),” he said.
When asked how Anderson and Barretto maintain their romance, he said they always make it a point to never lose sight of their endeavors and to be there for each other.
“Maraming ups and downs eh. Relationship, business, career, maraming ups and downs ‘yan,” he said. “Ang importante naman ay kapag nasa down ka, a-angat ka ulit and to always stay humble. Basta, never give up, at ‘yun ang ginagawa namin. To never give up sa endeavors namin and each other.”
(There are a lot of ups and downs: relationship, business, career. What’s important is if you’re down, there’s no way to go but up and to always stay humble. Never give up, and that’s what we do. To never give up on our endeavors and with each other.)
Anderson’s statement comes weeks after Barretto shut down rumors of their alleged secret engagement, where the latter stressed that someone shouldn’t be asked about getting married constantly as every person has their own stages in life.
Despite this, the actor confessed during a March 2023 interview that he sees the “Expensive Candy” star as someone he’ll marry, but he has yet to pop the question to her. EDV
