Lovely Abella undergoes surgery due to infection after childbirth

Just days after she gave birth to her son Liam Emmanuel, Lovely Abella-Manalo suffered from an infection that necessitated surgery.
The actress disclosed this as she underscored how every family has their own struggles, through her Instagram page on Friday, Sept. 22.
“Napakasakit sa pamilya namin ang mga nangyayari, lalo na sa akin. After 4 days, nagkaroon ako ng infection at need ko i-surgery ulit. Mas malala pa nung nanganak ako ng normal,” she said.
(Our current situation is excruciating for our family, especially for me. Four days after giving birth, I had an infection and needed to undergo surgery again. This was worse than giving birth via normal delivery.)
“Kung tatanungin niyo ako paano nangyari, saan nanggaling, bakit nagkaroon ako, ang sagot ko lang po ay walang may gusto na mangyari ang lahat ng ‘to,” she continued, adding that she never questioned God why she had to be away from her family and fight depression alone.
(If you would ask me how it happened, where the infection came from and how I had it, my answer would be: “No one wanted for all of this to happen.”)
While she opted not to expound on her condition, Abella expressed her gratitude to those who donated breastmilk for her son, vowing that she will also extend a helping hand to nursing moms once she gets better.
“Kaya po hindi ako makapagpa-breastfeed sa anak ko, or kahit ‘yung na-pump ko dahil naka-antibiotic po ako; bawal po. Kaya muli, salamat sa inyong lahat,” she explained.
(I cannot breastfeed my son or even give him the breast milk I pumped from me because I am taking antibiotics. So again, thank you to everyone [who donated breast milk].)

Abella then announced that she documented her childbirth through a YouTube vlog to show her fans the joy she felt after bringing a new life into the world. The comments section was then filled with prayers and well-wishes from fans and fellow celebrities.

In a separate Instagram post on Saturday, Sept. 23, Abella announced that she was finally cleared by her doctors to go home.
“Praise God. Pinayagan ako ng mga doctor ko na makalabas dahil nagkaka-postpartum depression na po ako. Please pray for me na sana po tuluyan na akong gumaling,” she said.
(Praise God. My doctors have discharged me because I was starting to have postpartum depression. Please pray for my continuous recovery.)

Abella revealed earlier this year that she and Manalo were expecting their “miracle baby” after three years of trying to have a child. The couple announced Liam’s birth last Sept. 17.
Aside from Liam, both actors have children from their previous relationships, namely Crisha and Nathan. /ra
