Hernan Doloroso, social scientist: “There was a big turnout on the opening day of the Cinemalaya entry, ‘Mga Mumunting Lihim,’ at CCP. The viewers were mostly young adults hankering for serious and relevant movies. Indeed, the local movie industry has come of age with the advent of the indies. They are a breath of fresh air after the usual romantic flicks and slapstick comedies.”

Lily Vicente, physical therapist: “I am a Sharon Cuneta fan, and I like watching her new talk show on TV5. However, it looks like she has some catching up to do ‘against’ Kris Aquino, whose show is livelier and more interesting.
“Sharon reads her spiels and doesn’t draw out much information from her guests. She also tends to be too ‘attached’ to her guests, crying and laughing with them, and sometimes loses her objectivity. She should do more celebrity interviews to get more people to watch her show!”
Lulu Mendez, student: “The MTRCB’s plan to implement a rating code ‘to get TV networks to tone down graphic scenes of sex and violence in the news and other programs while setting aside 15 percent of their airtime for child-friendly’ programming should be commended. It’s high time we put a stop to local news programs’ preference for blood and gore over more important news items!”
Tony Baga, computer programmer: “I’m glad that the show biz talk show, ‘Showbiz Central,’ has been put to rest. We have too many such shows, and it’s sad to watch warring celebrities trading barbs on competing networks.”
