Korean Film Festival gives tour of Korea through movies

This year’s Korean Film Festival (KFF), entitled “Ka-ja! Korea through Films,” aims to take its audience to an “unforgettable cinematic journey” with award-winning films “Life Is Beautiful,” “The Book of Fish” and “Bori,” among others.

The 2023 KFF, which will run from Sept. 22 to 26, is presented by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines (KCC), in collaboration with the Korean Film Council (Kofic), Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), SM Cinema and the Korea Tourism Organization Manila Office (KTO).

“Serving as the grand finale of the Korea Tourism Promotion month hosted by the KCC, this year’s KFF is all set to support the ‘Visit Korea 2023-2024’ tourism campaign led by the Korean government. Get ready to immerse yourself in the heart and soul of Korea’s picturesque landscapes through the lens of seven captivating Korean films,” read a press release from KCC.

Other films that will be featured in the film festival are “Director’s Intention,” “Everglow,” “Gyeongju” and “Jukdo Surfing Diary,” which were all shot at different locations across Korea, such as Gangneung, Busan, Jeju, Gyeongju, Yangyang, Paju and Sinan.

KCC is also set to hold the “Meet the Mentor” series, whose special panel includes award-winning Filipino director Perci Intalan, Korean directors-producers Park Eunkyung and Lee Yeonhwa.

This year’s series, entitled “Meet the Mentor: K-Movie Production Talk Show,” will take place at De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde’s Digital Screening Film Room, Design + Arts Campus on Sept. 21.

Admission to KFF is free of charge. KCC will be releasing the complete list of participating cinemas, screening schedules and ticketing guidelines through its social media pages.  /ra
