We’ve already got a million-selling rookie group!

Even before their highly anticipated debut yesterday, Sept. 4, Riize—a fusion of “rise” and “realize”—has already proven, through impressive sales and enthusiastic fan support, that they are the next generation of idols to watch in the highly competitive K-pop industry.

The new boy group from SM Entertainment rises to the top of the album sales game with over a million stock pre-orders for their debut album, “Get a Guitar,” and selling more than 178,000 copies on the first day of release.

If you’re a K-pop enthusiast, you’ve probably heard of Sungchan and Shotaro’s departure from their former group NCT and their subsequent inclusion in the “5th generation group” from the same company. They have already ignited the idol music scene with their pre-debut songs “Siren” and “Memories,” generating significant buzz and traction, alongside fellow members Seunghan, Eunseok, Wonbin, Sohee, and Anton.

The seven-member group made a refreshing debut on Sept. 4 with their first single “Get A Guitar” alongside its eponymous title track’s music video.

The debut song is a pop track infused with vintage synthesizer melodies and a funky guitar rhythm. The lyrics are about the idea of the septet convening together in response to the strums of the guitar and finding mutual understanding through music.

During their debut showcase, Riize announced that their fans would be collectively referred to as “Sunz.”
