Celebrity stylist Kat Cruz, 41, disclosed that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer and that she already underwent her first session of chemotherapy.

Cruz, the former stylist of actress-fashion personality Heart Evangelista, “embraced courage” and spoke about her health through her Instagram page on Saturday, Sept. 2.

“For those who know me, you’ll know I usually keep my personal life off social media,” she began. “But today, I step out of my comfort zone because this journey is bigger than just me and I hope sharing my story will help open the conversation among the young.”

“At 41, I’m facing a diagnosis of triple positive breast cancer, and here I stand on the first day of chemo and targeted therapy,” she revealed.

Cruz underscored the importance of mindfully looking after one’s health, and admitted that she herself had “kept pushing off check-ups due to a busy life.”

“I felt invincible, keeping up with healthy habits—eating clean, working out, and prioritizing sleep. Besides, I thought I was too young for this,” she said.

“I’m not naive about the rough road ahead—the treatments, the side effects, and the possibility of a major surgery. But through all this, one thing has hit home hard: cancer doesn’t give a damn about who you are, how old you are, or how healthy your lifestyle is.”

Cruz then urged the public to prioritize their health as she stressed, “That monthly self-check is way quicker than hitting pause on life when things get serious.”

“Trust me, in the midst of all this craziness, looking after yourself means checking in on your health too,” she concluded.

The comments section was filled with prayers and well-wishes for Cruz from celebrities Jolina Magdangal, Gabbi Garcia, Carla Abellana and Iza Calzado, among many others.
