Bugoy Cariño and volleyball player EJ Laure are finally engaged after the “Goin’ Bulilit” alum popped the question during his 21st birthday.
Cariño celebrated turning a year older by holding a party, as seen on his Instagram Stories on Monday, Sept. 5. During the event, Cariño and Laure went up to the stage where the former made his marriage proposal.
“Gusto ko lang sabihin at ipagsigawan sa lahat ng kaibigan ko na nandito, na itong babaeng ito papakasalan ko,” he said, pointing to Laure. “Itong babaeng ito ay mamahalin ko hanggang dulo.”
(I just want to say aloud in front of my friends here that I will marry this girl. I will love this girl endlessly.)
“EJ, Ennajie Cruz Laure, mahal na mahal kita (I love you so much). Will you marry me?” Cariño continued, asking the question on bended knee.

The newly engaged couple, who share a five-year-old daughter named Scarlet, received cheers from their guests who included their loved ones and fellow celebrities.

Some of those in attendance were Cariño’s former “Hashtags” members Zeus Collins, Ronnie Alonte, Nikko Natividad, Jon Lucas, Tom Doromal and Jimboy Martin.

Cariño and Laure revealed Scarlet to the public in 2020 when the actor celebrated his 18th birthday. The pair’s relationship sparked controversy due to Cariño being only 15 years old when he first got involved with Laure, who was then 19 years old. /ra
