The camp of actress-comedienne Awra Briguela has turned the tables on her accuser as she filed a counter-affidavit and more complaints before the Makati Prosecutor’s Office in connection with the criminal complaints she’s facing following a brawl outside a bar in Poblacion district last June.
Briguela — whose real name is McNeal Briguela and who uses the pronouns she and her — submitted her counter-affidavit before Makati Senior Assistant City Prosecutor Arvin Amata in answer to Mark Christian Ravana’s complaints of light threats, grave coercion and violation of the Safe Spaces Act or the “Bawal Bastos” law.
These are on top of the charges being faced by the “Ang Probinsyano” star for physical injuries, alarm and scandal, disobedience to a person in authority, and direct assault.
Accompanied by her lawyer Mikaelo Jaime Reyes, Briguela at the same time filed a complaint for violation of Section 1 of the anti-wiretapping law, slight physical injury, and a violation of the Safe Spaces Act against Ravana.

A preliminary investigation on the incident took place at the Makati Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday, Aug. 31, or the day after the counter-affidavit was filed.
Atty. Nick Nangit, counsel for Ravana, said his client has not made known any plans to seek a compromise with Briguela’s camp to settle the case. However, Nangit said they are confident that the evidence that they have against the actress is strong.
Briguela was arrested last June 29 and was released on July 1 after posting bail of P6,000.
The filing of charges stemmed from her fistfight with Ravana and his group outside the Bolt Hole Bar in Poblacion, Makati.
She recently broke her social media hiatus to promote her upcoming series “Comedy Island” which premiered last Aug. 31 at a streaming platform. EDV
