After she unfollowed her stepfather Kiko Pangilinan and her sister Frankie Pangilinan on Instagram, KC Concepcion admitted that their blended family is “complicated,” but stressed that she has been doing her best to be a good daughter and a good sister.

KC opened up about this after showbiz columnist Cristy Fermin asked the reason behind the unfollowing issue, as seen on the latter’s “Cristy Ferminute” vlog on Tuesday, Aug. 29.

“Hindi naman po masama na magkaroon ng time na meron kayong ina-unfollow or meron kayong ifa-follow. Mahirap lang po talaga kapag showbiz ‘yung family, talagang lahat pinupuna po,” the actress said.

“I think ‘yung sa akin is more of—like I said—may mga complicated po talaga pagdating sa blended family. Meron din po talagang times na hindi perfect,” she continued. “Hindi po kami perpekto at hindi rin po kailangan parating perfect.”

(I think for me, it’s more of—like I said—there are complicated things when it comes to blended family. There are times when it’s not perfect. We’re not perfect and we do not need to be.)

While KC opted not to disclose specific details, she underscored that she just wants happiness for herself and for her family.

“Wala naman po akong gustong ikwento pa apart from the fact na ako, I just want peace of mind,” she stated. “I want to be happy. I want my family to be happy. Ang gusto ko lang ay maging light, maging masaya—ayoko ng maraming drama.”

(I won’t say anything apart from the fact that I just want peace of mind. I want to be happy. I want my family to be happy. I want to feel light, happy—I don’t want a lot of drama.)

KC then noted that she has done what her family wants her to do and that if she has shortcomings, she believes that “it can be counted on the fingers of one hand.” She emphasized as well that she has been trying to be a good sister to her siblings but that there are instances when she has no control over the situation.

“Ang sinasabi ko palagi is important na ang dalawang tao sa isang relasyon work together to make it a good relationship,” the actress stressed. “Talaga pong ginagawa ko ang lahat para maging mabuting anak at mabuting ate.”

(As I always say, it’s important for two people in a relationship to work together to make it a good relationship. I am really doing everything to be a good daughter and good older sister.)

“I just think na may mga moments na wala na akong kontrol and mas gugustuhin ko pong i-keep ang aking peace of mind kasi 30s na rin po ako. So may pagkakataon din po na parang iisipin ko muna ‘yung mental health ko,” she added.

(I just think that there are [situations] I cannot control and I’d choose to keep my peace of mind [than force it], because I’m already in my 30s. So there would be times when I’d prioritize my mental health.)

On her blended families

KC also opened up about her close relationship with her family from her mom Sharon Cuneta’s side and from her dad Gabby Concepcion’s side.

“Mahal na mahal ko po ‘yung families ko pero meron at meron pa rin pong complication kapag blended family,” she admitted. “Pero I’m very grateful po [na] tanggap naman ako ng both families. ‘Yun nga lang po, parang minsan iba pa rin po ‘yung feeling even don sa mga parents na inadopt at tinanggap ka.”

(I love my families so much but there will always be complications in a blended family. Nonetheless, I’m grateful that both families accept me. It’s just that, sometimes it feels off for me and for my adoptive parents.)

“Minsan may mga moments lang po na kahit hindi sinasadya, mafi-feel mo rin na medyo naiiba ka sa iba,” she continued. (There are moments when—even if they do not intend to do so—you will feel that you are different from them.)

KC further spoke about her love for the Megastar whom she regards as her “best friend,” declaring that no one can love the latter more than she does.

“At the end of the day, mag-nanay kami, nagmamahalan kami… Meron akong feeling na malalaman din ni Mama kung gaano ko siya kamahal pag dating ng panahon,” KC stated. “Wala nang ibang pwedeng mas magmahal sa kanya kung paano ko siya kayang mahalin.”

(At the end of the day, she’s my mom, I’m her daughter, and we love each other. I have a feeling that Mom will someday realize how much I love her. No one can love her the way I do.)

“Hindi man ako asawa, manager or hindi man ako nakatira sa kanya, pero mahal na mahal ko ‘yung nanay ko na ‘yan. Hindi ako perfect, nagkakamali ako katulad ng ibang may magulang pero I do my best,” she stressed.

(I may not be a husband or manager, and I may not live under the same roof with her, but I love my mom so much. I’m not perfect. I commit mistakes just like any other children do, but I do my best.)  /ra
