‘Rebel Moon,’ a visual timeline of how far filmmaker Zack Snyder has evolved

Say what you want about Zack Snyder but there’s no denying the famed director is a visionary. He has always been viewed as that ever since his breakout hit ‘300’ in movie theatres way back in 2006. Since the time, Zack Snyder has built a voluminous catalog of movies that he himself has directed, written, and of which he has charge.
Everything from comic book-based movies to passion projects belongs here and to the latter part is where the Netflix movie ‘Rebel Moon’ is found. This is his latest passion project that will be shown in two parts on Netflix.
‘Rebel Moon’ is not only directed by Zack Snyder. He also co-wrote the story and again, it is one of his original creations. Clearly, the budget for this was really big because official trailers always show more or less a rough estimate of what was financially invested in developing it. ‘Rebel Moon,’ from what I can tell, will probably have the biggest budget ever of its kind for an exclusive streaming service.
I have to say that the official trailer of ‘Rebel Moon’ is a run-through which shows a long list of influences, inspirations, and motivations for Zack Snyder as a filmmaker.
It is a picturesque understanding of what were the movies Zack Snyder while growing up was watching and liking and those played important factors in the development of his own filmmaking style. When you watch the official trailer of ‘Rebel Moon’ you will be able to glean those factors that are on display, if you will only pay close attention to details. I can compare this official trailer to a historical visual timeline of how far Zack Snyder has evolved as a filmmaker.
Beyond those things, it is as well full of visually masterful shots. It is epic in scale. It is a mixed bag of a lot of things genre-wise, in movies. Everything that Zack Snyder has been influencing him as a director, filmmaker, and writer from past to present are shown in the official trailer for ‘Rebel Moon’.
From the dystopian future setting of ‘Dune‘, the lightsaber rattling of ‘Star Wars’, the monochromatic colors of ‘The Chronicles of Riddick’, the strong female-centered onscreen characters from ‘Game of Thrones,’ the technical nuances of ‘The Matrix’ and even some signature tropes of ‘The Hunger Games’ are most of the influences gleaned from the official trailer of ‘Rebel Moon’ that I am talking about.
There is a fair chance that ‘Rebel Moon’ will be one amazing, awesome two-part movie if everything in the official trailer can be interpreted into one single important piece of information. It is clear Zack Snyder has been given full creative control in the making of this movie.
We always want the filmmaker to have his full creative control because more often than not, that is the only way to truly tell if the filmmaker can deliver on his promise of putting out a movie that will either meet expectations or go even beyond them. It has happened, and with Zack Snyder, it has happened a handful of times in recent years that when he has full creative control, the movies turn out exactly and perfectly as he envisions them to be.
I definitely hope ‘Rebel Moon’ will hit it out of the park once it gets its worldwide release on Netflix.
