Lovi Poe admits fiancé Monty Blencowe’s proposal ‘happened so fast’
Apart from the coveted engagement ring, proposals come with an element of surprise — and Lovi Poe is one of the many brides-to-be who was shocked after her fiancé, British film producer Monty Blencowe, asked her hand in marriage.
Poe spoke about Blencowe’s proposal at a cover interview with local lifestyle magazine Metro, saying the latter was supposed to ask her hand in marriage in California, in the United States. However, she got “super drunk” with her sister at an event, leading to the last-minute change in plans.
“So my sister and I got back from the event, super drunk… He was so stressed. He was like, ‘Oh my god, I don’t think I can propose tonight because Lovi is not in the right headspace,’” she was quoted as saying.
As a result, her Hollywood producer-boyfriend joined her at a 4:00 a.m. morning run the next day, saying he wanted to “watch the sunrise” with her in an apparent excuse to pop the question.
“I usually wake up early in the morning, [at] 4 o’clock or so, to go out for a run and watch the sunrise. That’s not his thing, he’s not a morning person. So the next day, he’s like, you know what, ‘I’ll watch the sunrise with you.’ [I thought], Anong nakain nito (What did he eat)? And then he asked me… it happened so fast, I said yes,” she said.

“He’s very patient, and he also wants to see me shine. He lets me grow as an individual. He doesn’t take it against me that I work so hard, that I’m so far away from him,” she said. “That fact that he wants to see me bloom even more as an individual makes me want to be with him because I know for a fact that he won’t take my passion against me because I’m so passionate about my work, my career.”
The actress, however, remained tight-lipped about her upcoming wedding, although she noted that her fiancé was “very hands-on” during the preparation of their special day.
Poe announced her engagement to Blencowe earlier this month, although she revealed that they have been engaged for about two years now.
The sweethearts sparked dating rumors in 2019, after she confirmed their relationship in June of the same year. EDV
