Wally Bayola said talks between the production staff of “EAT” and the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) are ongoing, days after the noontime show was summoned by the government agency following the host’s use of “profane words.”
Bayola made the confirmation during an ambush interview with reporters last Thursday, Aug. 17, after he was asked about MTRCB’s “Notice to Appear and Testify” against the noontime show.
Incidentally, MTRCB is chaired by Lala Sotto-Antonio, daughter of “EAT” host Tito Sotto.
“Yes po. May pag-uusap po ang MTRCB at sa production [ng ‘EAT’]. Siyempre, hindi pa ako pwede magbigay ng salaysay and I want to keep it privately muna kasi nga, ongoing pa ‘yung pag-uusap,” he said.
(Yes. Talks between MTRCB and “EAT” are ongoing. Of course, I’m not allowed to give any statement on what’s happening between both camps. I want to keep it privately for now because talks between both camps are ongoing.)
Bayola apologized during the noontime show’s Aug. 11 episode, saying he is “willing” to comply with the government agency’s orders.
“Kung ano man ang pwedeng gawin pa, willing naman po ako (If there’s anything I’m willing to do, I’m willing to follow),” he said.
Meanwhile, Jose Manalo expressed support for his “EAT” co-host, as he pointed out that there’s nothing wrong with apologizing to the concerned authorities.
“Patatagalin pa ba natin? Huwag nang patagalin. Kasalanan mo o hindi, mag-sorry tayo. Wala namang masama, eh. Hindi nakakabawas ng pagkatao ang pagso-sorry. The more na nagpapakumbaba ka, the more na maganda ang ginagawa mo. Hindi mo kailangang magtaas kasi isa lang ang nasa taas at isa lang ang superstar,” he said.
(Should we wait for this to drag out? Let’s not wait for this to drag out any longer. Whether it’s your fault or not, let’s say sorry. There’s nothing wrong with it. Saying sorry doesn’t make you less of a person. The more you humble yourself, the more you’re doing something better. You don’t have to think too highly of yourself because there’s only one on top and only one superstar.)
“EAT” was summoned by the MTRCB after Bayola blurted out “P*t*ng*na (s*n of a b***h)” during a skit during the show’s “Sugod Bahay mga Kapatid” segment on its Aug. 10 episode. The TV host eventually apologized a day after, where Manalo assured viewers that such an incident wouldn’t happen again. EDV
