Karen Bordador cries foul over ‘hate’ posts after replacing Kristel Fulgar in Seo In-guk event
Actress-TV host Karen Bordador is bearing the brunt of hate messages following the decision of organizers of a fan meet for Korean actor-singer Seo In-guk to get her as replacement host for Kristel Fulgar.
On her X (formerly Twitter) account, Bordador admitted that she was at the receiving end of “irrational hate” due to a certain somebody’s action of pointing fingers without taking responsibility for it.
“After receiving mean and baseless IRRATIONAL hate I didn’t deserve… now what? So easy to point fingers but naturally no accountability taken,” she wrote.
Bordador, however, said she believed that karma will soon do its work.
“Damage is done! Karma comes in many forms. Hope you learned something. God bless,” she further said

‘Surprised and confused’
While Bordador did not name anyone in particular, there were speculations that she might be referring to Fulgar, whose hosting job went to her.
Fulgar, who was previously based in South Korea, is known to be vocal about her admiration for Seo on multiple occasions, including a one-on-one interview with the latter in July 2022.
Meanwhile, Seo is a singer-actor who starred in multiple K-dramas including ““Reply 1997,” “Shopping King Louie,” “Hello Monster,” “High School King of Savvy,” and “Cafe Mimandang,” among many others.
In her YouTube vlog on Tuesday, August 15, Fulgar apologized for the sudden cancellation of her hosting gig, saying she was “surprised and confused” after she was told by a “Korean technical director” that she would no longer be hosting Seo’s event.
“Unfortunately, hindi na ako ang magho-host ng event. First time kong maka-experience ng ganitong scenario sa 20 years ko sa entertainment industry (Unfortunately, I wouldn’t be hosting the event. It’s my first time to experience this kind of scenario in my 20 years in the entertainment industry),” she said, while noting the director came from Seo’s agency HY Official.
“Sinabihan ako ng [Korean technical director] na hindi ako ang magho-host. Parang huh, sandali lang naman, anong nangyari?” (I was told by a Korean technical director that I wouldn’t be the host anymore. It was like, ‘Huh? What happened?’)
The actress-vlogger then pointed out that she did her best to prepare for the event, especially that she has been a longtime fan of the “Reply 1997” star.
“Ang tagal kong nag-prepare para rito, and wala akong tinanggap na hosting kundi ito lang. Ang event lang na ‘to para lang kay Seo In-guk. Alam ko na hindi naman ako expert sa hosting, pero alam ko na kaya kong kumo-nnect sa kapwa fans ni Seo In-guk and ito ang pinakagusto ko. Eleven years akong fan ni Seo In-guk kaya tinanggap ko ‘to kasi tinitignan ako as representative,” she added.
(I prepared so much for this, and I didn’t accept any other hosting gigs save for this one. This event is for Seo In-guk. I know that I’m not an expert in hosting but I know that I can connect with his fans which was what I really wanted to do. I’ve been a fan of Seo In-guk for 11 years, which is why I accepted it because I see myself as a representative of them.)
Sharing a behind the scenes story, she admitted that she’s “not used to giving out 100% of my energy” during rehearsals, which led to the director opting to contact someone to take over her hosting duties.
“Since it was just a rehearsal, I’m not used to giving out 100% of my energy. So kung nakulangan sila sa energy (So if they find my energy lacking), I told them I will do my best. I expected them to let me up on the stage again to show them that 100%, but they didn’t allow me and they contacted a different host,” she said.
Despite this, Fulgar said sorry to the fans of the singer-actor and everyone involved in the event, saying that she was told that “they just want a good event.”
“They keep telling me that they just want a good event. They didn’t even give me a second chance to prove myself. That’s why I’m ashamed of the people that already expected to see me up there. I’m so sorry guys,” she said.
Fulgar, however, said she remained grateful nonetheless for the opportunity to interact with Seo, as she noted that it’s a dream of hers to see him in person. EDV
