Kris Aquino expressed hope despite her painful medical treatments and underscored that although she still has a “long way to go,” she is finally on the “correct path to remission.”

The Queen of All Media once again extended her gratitude to everyone who has been praying for her recovery, through her Instagram page on Thursday, Aug. 10. She also showed photos from what appears to be a session of her medical treatment, wherein she was accompanied by her son Bimby and Batangas Vice Gov. Mark Leviste.

Kris noted that she chose to give thanks on this day as it is the midpoint between the death anniversaries of her parents, former President Corazon “Cory” Cojuangco-Aquino and former Sen. Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr.

Kris also pointed out that it has been 17 months since she was diagnosed with eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA)—the same number of months her mom had fought colon cancer before she passed away.

“Dr. Malika Gupta gave me my second dose of a biological injectable (unfortunately not available in the Philippines) to help lower my very high IgE,” Kris said, referring to her doctor. “She calls me a ‘bad-ass’ because kinakaya ko even though malapot at mahapdi yung ini-inject at malalim kailangan ibaon yung prefilled high-tech syringe.”

“Yes, matapang na ko sa halos lahat ng kailangan pagdaanan at mataas ang pain tolerance ko. It’s the AFTERMATH, 72 hours feeling kagaya nung bigat after a Covid vaccine but 3x,” she stated, adding that she has to take this medication every other week “to reach ‘remission’ over the next 10 to 12 months.”

Aside from the biological injectable, the former actress disclosed that she has to take methotrexate—a chemotherapy medication—once a week. Kris then clarified that autoimmune disorders have no cure, although the damage it causes on the patient’s organs can be prevented or managed if diagnosed early and/or given the proper treatment.

“Thank you because our prayers are being answered—my last blood panel showed improvement—it’s slow progress, I have a long way to go,” she wrote.

“It’s likely that after a few months another medication will be introduced to my body by UCLA’s Dr. Belperio—but I am, against all odds (because of all my limitations with medicinal options), finally, on the correct path to remission and a better quality of life,” she declared. “Thank you to all. Thank you, God.”
