MANILA, Philippines — Drag artist Amadeo Fernando Pagente, better known as Pura Luka Vega, has been declared persona non grata in the province of Bukidnon.
This came after the artist was seen in a viral video dancing to a rendition of The Lord’s Prayer while clad in a Black Nazarene-inspired drag costume.
“Not only is the viral video deemed blasphemous,” said the resolution released by Bukidnon’s Provincial Board promulgated on Tuesday but was only furnished to the press on Wednesday, “it is also offensive, disrespectful, insulting, unacceptable and outrageous to the Christian religion and belief.”
The resolution also said that the performance “demeans the sensibilities of our Christian brothers and sisters.”
This is Pagente’s fourth persona non grata.
The localities of Toboso in Negros Occidental; Floridablanca in Pampanga; and General Santos City also imposed a ban on the artist.

Leaders of Christian churches under the Philippines for Jesus Movement also filed a case against Vega over alleged violation of Article 201 of the Revised Penal Code and in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
