An emotional Kim Chiu gave assurance to ABS-CBN executives that she will always be a “Kapamilya,” as she renewed her contract with the network on Wednesday.
During the contract-signing event, the TV actress-host teared up as she recalled how her showbiz career began 17 years ago through ABS-CBN’s reality TV show “Pinoy Big Brother.” She also thanked the network for giving her the opportunity to reach not only her dreams but her family’s as well.
“I started without having anything on my hand or anything in my pocket,” the actress said in a shaky voice. “I don’t know how to sing, to dance, I don’t even know how to act, even to host—masakit sa tenga ako magsalita (my voice sounds annoying)—but I’m here, living my dream and renewing another year with my network—two years.”
“I’m giving back everything to my home network because tinulungan nila ako nung walang-wala ako (they helped me when I had nothing,” she continued. “Kaya [kung] kailangan nila ng tulong ko (That’s why if they would need my help), I’m here. I will always be here. I will always be grateful, and I will always be a Kapamilya.”
Chiu looked forward to spending more years with the Kapamilya network, expressing her excitement for what’s in store for her.
“I’ve been through a lot of challenges this past year [but] I’m just very thankful that I have these pretty amazing, generous, loving, supportive people behind me,” she stressed, adding how she aspires to inspire more people through her platform.
Aside from her hosting stint in the noontime show “It’s Showtime,” Chiu is also part of the weekend variety show “ASAP Natin ‘To.” Her recent projects include the series “’Fit Check: Confessions of an Ukay Queen,” where she stars alongside Jake Ejercito and Kylie Versoza.
Chiu is also set to headline the upcoming TV series “Linlang” with Diamond Star Maricel Soriano, Paulo Avelino and JM de Guzman. EDV
