Kim Chiu was visibly elated about the transfer of ABS-CBN noontime show “It’s Showtime” on GMA’s GTV, likening the move to her love for spicy food.

Interviewed during a recent launch of a food joint, where she served as endorser for six years, Chiu said the show’s transfer is another proof that the so-called network war between erstwhile rivals ABS-CBN and GMA Network is now over.

She further said that it’s an opportunity for “It’s Showtime” to have a “wider” reach to different audiences, as she expressed her gratitude for its recent milestone.

“It’s spicy, it’s interesting. It’s something na mapapanood mo talaga at aabangan mo talaga. [Wala nang network war], love, love, love lang,” she said. “Nakakaexcite for our madlang people kasi lahat ng mga ginagawa namin ay para sa madlang people. [At least], we gave them a different taste.”

(It’s spicy, it’s interesting. It’s something that you would definitely watch and tune in to. There’s no more network war, just love, love, love. It’s exciting for our viewers because everything that we do is for them. At least, we gave them a different taste.)

“It’s still gonna be the same, mas wide lang ‘yung naging reach and we’re just really happy and very thankful na sa maraming platforms kami mapapanood. Mas maraming madlang people ‘yung mapapasaya namin,” she added.

When asked why she chose to stay with the noontime show, the “Bride for Rent” star said her fellow “It’s Showtime” colleagues remain “very supportive” about her many pursuits.

“They’ve been very, very supportive. They’ve been there [for me] as an actor, endorser, so parang nand’un ‘yung suportahan. Kapag naramdaman mo ‘yung support and the loyalty na binabalik sa’yo, parang magi-stay ka talaga nang matagal,” she said.

(They’ve been very, very supportive. They’ve been there for me as an actor, endorser, so the mutual support among the team is there. If you’re surrounded in an environment of people who are supportive and loyal, you would choose to stay there.)

And while the actress admitted that she has no idea what the future would hold for “It’s Showtime” following its transfer, she said she wants to “live in the experience” for now.

“Hindi talaga natin alam what will happen tomorrow so we just have to enjoy kung ano man ang nangyayari ngayon, let’s just live in the experience, embrace the change,” she said.

As the topic shifted to the Kapuso stars she wanted to work with, Chiu giggled as she mentioned her longtime boyfriend, actor Xian Lim, who’s signed with GMA since 2021.

“Nand’un si Xian [Lim] eh, so magkikita na kami ni Xi,” she said. “[Pero] kahit sino naman, basta maganda ‘yung project.” (Xian Lim is there, so Xian and I might meet. But I don’t mind working with anyone, as long as the project is good.)

The pilot episode of “It’s Showtime” last Saturday, July 1, was met with a star-studded welcome featuring ABS-CBN and GMA’s stars. Chiu, who served as one of the show’s main hosts since 2020, performed a dance number with Barbie Forteza, Belle Mariano, and Alexa Ilacad.
