After she was given a microphone at Sabrina Carpenter’s Manila concert, Andrea Brillantes said she relates to the American actress-singer’s songs because the actress also encountered people who “betrayed” her and “ruined [her] reputation.”

Brillantes was standing among the audience when the singer, standing on the stage, extended her microphone to the actress and asked why she is “mad.” Clips from the concert were shown on New Frontier Theater’s Instagram page on Tuesday, July 25.

“Actually, I think they know [why I’m mad],” Brillantes began, referring to the cheering crowd. “Because there’s a lot of people who have also betrayed me, and have also kind of ruined my reputation in a way.”

“Even though they’re not true and I’m also just a victim, [I] never told them anything,” she continued. “But with your songs, it’s like you are the one who’s speaking to them for me. That’s why I love your songs so much.”

Carpenter was then intrigued on why “people” were being haters to the actress, which led fans to hint that Brillantes was apparently talking about a guy.

“Oh, it’s a guy? It’s always a guy — I’m kidding,” Carpenters said, joking how his absence at the concert shows he “doesn’t have taste.”

Carpenter, who apparently had no idea of Brillantes’ celebrity status, was surprised that fans seemed to know the identity of the said guy and wondered, “How big is Manila?”

Brillantes then raved about her interaction with Carpenter through a series of tweets, saying she was so mesmerized by the singer that she “forgot how to think and to speak proper English.”

Thank you sa napaka-warm na crowd kanina! Very supportive also,” the Kapamilya actress stated. “Grabe, I was literally so scared when she called me kasi ayaw ko na magalit mga tao sa akin, but this was a different experience. Thank you sa mga nando’n.”

Brillantes opted not to expound on who she was referring to in her statements during the concert.

Meanwhile, the actress recently made headlines after her breakup with basketball player Ricci Rivero. Brillantes opened up about their split in an interview with lifestyle magazine Preview, revealing she gained “inner peace” after her separation with Rivero. EDV
