The cast of the iconic Kapamilya sitcom “Home Along Da Riles” recreated a scene from the 1993 movie adaptation of the hit series to honor Comedy King Dolphy, who would have turned 95 on Tuesday, July 25.

Dolphy’s actor grandson Boy2 Quizon uploaded the 2023 version of the scene on his TikTok page, and captioned his post, “Happy Birthday sa atin, Lolo! Ito ang regalo namin sa’yo (Happy birthday to us, Grandpa! This is our gift to you)!”

Seemingly a case of perfect timing, the recreation happened in the year when “Home Along Da Riles: Da Movie” is set to celebrate its 30th anniversary.

While a shorter version — with a few changes here and there — of the original scene wherein Kevin Cosme (Dolphy) does a musical number with family and friends, the recreation ticked all the important boxes, especially when it came to the cast and the props.

The TikTok upload featured a mix of real instruments, such as harmonica and flute, and makeshift ones — from kitchen utensils to a whistle and a bike horn — utilized by original cast members Claudine Barretto, Smokey Manaloto, Gio Alvarez, Maybelyn dela Cruz, Dang Cruz, and Vandolph Quizon.

Nova Villa also reprised her role as Ason Madamba, while Boy2, who was not part of the first movie adaptation, substituted for Tommy Angeles.

The cast reuniting and reprising their roles was already enough to serve nostalgia to fans, but the editing — how the video went back and forth, from past to present, and how the highly respected actor-comedian was edited in the present time — really took everyone to a trip down memory lane.

Cast members also shared the video on their Instagram pages and remembered their “Tito” (uncle) or “Tatay” (father) Kevin on his special day.

Meanwhile, dela Cruz, in her dedication to her “beloved Tito Dolphy,” asked her followers to join them in celebrating the life of the Comedy King.

“Join us as we remember and rejoice in the life of an extraordinary man who taught us the true meaning of family, and showed us how important it is to recognize laughter even in the most trying times,” she said.

Aside from reuniting a few weeks ago on the 11th death anniversary of the “Rosario” actor, some of the cast members were also spotted during the party for Manaloto’s son, Kiko, who was baptized last month. “Home Along Da Riles” aired for more than a decade, from 1992-2003. EDV
