Herlene Budol revealed that she will once again seek the help of an interpreter when she represents the Philippines in the Miss Tourism World pageant in London this November.

Budol briefly explained during an interview with GMA’s Saksi that she needs an interpreter in the global tilt because she’s not very proficient in speaking English, especially when it comes to the question-and-answer portion.

“Dito nga po sa Pilipinas na maraming nagta-Tagalog nakapagdala ako sa tabi ko. What more sa iba pang bansa? Pero gusto ko kasi mas maraming mas makaintindi. Kagaya ko na hindi gan’un kagaling sa Ingles pero pinipilit,” she said.

(Even in the Philippines where a lot of people speak Tagalog, I have one with me. What more in a different country? But I want people to understand where I’m coming from. Especially for me who’s not that good in English but trying her best.)

The “Magandang Dilag” star earlier hinted on Facebook that her potential was being “wasted” after netizens noticed her apparent unhappy expression after she was named Miss Tourism World Philippines at the Miss Grand Philippines coronation last July 13.

Meanwhile, Nikki De Moura from Cagayan de Oro City was crowned as Miss Grand Philippines 2023. She will be competing in the global tilt in Vietnam in October.

Other queens who were crowned include Bagumbayan, Quezon City’s Michelle Arceo (Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas 2023) and Tarlac’s Francine Reyes (Miss Eco Teen Philippines 2023).

Caloocan City’s Shannon Tampon and Caluya, Antique’s Charie Sergio finished first and second runner-up, respectively.  /ra
