Miss Universe Philippines (MUPH) national director Shamcey Supsup complimented Pauline Amelinckx, saying that although it’s not the result they wanted, she is proud of the latter for giving a good fight and finishing as the Miss Supranational 2023 first runner-up.
Amelinckx was proclaimed first runner-up at the coronation event held in Poland on July 14 (July 15 in the Philippines). Andrea Aguilera from Ecuador emerged as this year’s Miss Supranational titleholder.
After the pageant, Amelinckx was greeted with an outpouring of praises from her fellow beauty queens including Supsup, who was present at the coronation night.
“It may not have been the result we have wanted but I am so proud of how [Pauline Amelinckx] gave us a good fight!” Supsup, who was crowned Miss Universe 2011 third runner-up, said in an Instagram post.
“I really thought we had it in the bag but no matter what, you are the winner in our hearts. Thank you for representing the [Philippines],” she added.
Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Dee expressed support for Amelinckx as well through her Instagram Stories.
“Ikaw ang panalo sa puso namin (In our hearts, you are the winner), [Pauline Amelinckx]. You raised our flag so loud and proud,” Dee wrote while sharing a photo of her and Amelinckx together.
Meanwhile, Miss Universe Philippines 2022 Celeste Cortesi admitted she slept with a heavy heart after Amelinckx fell short of bringing home the Miss Supranational crown.
Nonetheless, Cortesi stressed that Amelinckx is a “queen of dedication” and did an amazing performance.

Amelinckx’s first runner-up finish also extended the Philippines’ Miss Supranational placement streak to 11 consecutive editions.
The first, and so far only, Filipino woman to be proclaimed Miss Supranational is Binibining Pilipinas Mutya Johanna Datul, who was crowned in 2013. /ra
