Iza Calzado opened up about her postpartum fitness journey, admitting it took her months before sharing it to the public because she often felt “frustrated” over her body.
The actress made a compilation of clips from her workout sessions which she showed through her Instagram page on Wednesday, July 12.
“To be honest, I have been struggling to fully embrace my postpartum body. It’s a bit of a rollercoaster ride, really,” she said.
“I have my good days when I celebrate it for carrying and birthing to and now taking care of a child. Then there are those moments that leave me feeling frustrated even after years of working on loving and accepting myself,” she confessed.
Despite this, Calzado underscored that she welcomes this “new chapter” in her self-love journey and that she values the process more than the outcome. She further said that her workout video serves as a self-reminder that no matter the size of her body, it is worthy to be on her social media feed.
“[I] will choose to reframe the anxiety and turn it into excitement. Grateful for this new challenge and can’t wait to see where my hard work will take me,” she stated.
“It is also a way for me to honor where I am at, physically and mentally,” she added. “Mahaba-haba pa ang biyahe pero darating din tayo dun. Tuloy lang. Laban lang!” (The journey is still long but we will get there as long as we continue. Keep on going!)
Calzado received an outpouring of support from fans and fellow celebrities, who were all cheers for the celebrity mom in the comments section.
Calzado gave birth to Deia Amihan, her first child with husband Ben Wintle, last Jan. 26. Calzado then opened up about motherhood months after childbirth, saying she considered it to be the “most challenging yet fulfilling journey” she had been on. /ra
