YG Entertainment denies Blackpink’s Lisa is leaving the agency, says contract renewals are ‘ongoing’
South Korean music label YG Entertainment said that discussions about Blackpink’s contract renewal are currently “ongoing,” as it refuted allegations of Lisa’s departure.
YG made the brief confirmation in response to a report from Korean media outlet Munhwa Ilbo on Wednesday, July 12, which said that there’s a “high chance” that Lisa will be leaving the agency after the expiration of her contract in August. Meanwhile, discussions on Jisoo, Jennie, and Rosé’s contracts are supposedly “going smoothly.”
While citing a source from an undisclosed Chinese agency, the report also stated that the Thai singer is set to appear in a show, however, it’s “difficult to arrange scheduled activities after August” due to her schedules, as well as the “uncertainty” if she’ll renew her contract.
YG then responded to the reports saying, “The [uncertain scheduling] is due to the tour schedule as well as her individually scheduled activities. It has nothing to do with the contract renewal,” per a Soompi translation.
The agency also confirmed that contract renewals for the quartet are “currently under discussion,” as of this writing.
