Vice Ganda admits he initially felt ‘It’s Showtime’ was a ‘casualty’ of TVJ, TAPE’s feud
Vice Ganda said that although he initially felt that “It’s Showtime” was a “casualty” of the dispute between Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon (TVJ) and production company TAPE Inc., the comedian has nothing against the original “Eat Bulaga” mainstays because the trio are just fighting for their show.
The “It’s Showtime” host opened up about the ABS-CBN noontime show’s move from TV5 to GMA’s GTV channel, through a vlog on his YouTube channel on Tuesday, June 27.
“‘Yun talaga ‘yung unang naramdaman namin, parang, ‘Tayo ‘yung casualty nung naging problema nung TVJ tsaka ng Eat Bulaga,'” he admitted. ‘Yun ‘yung unang naging damdamin namin.”
(It was as if we were the casualty of the dispute between TVJ and “Eat Bulaga’s'” [TAPE]. We were the ones hit by the guns they fired. That was what we initially felt.)

(But we cannot blame TVJ because all of us just want to work. We all have our homes, programs and audiences to fight for.)
“Hindi man masyadong pabor sa atin pero again, hindi pwede natin ‘yong i-take against them kasi nagta-trabaho lang din naman sila,” he added. (The circumstances may not be in our favor, but as I have said, we cannot take it against them because they are just doing their job.)
The comedian further noted that he would always be grateful to TV5 because the network extended a helping hand and gave “It’s Showtime” a home for a time.
(We cannot be angry with them because they once made us happy; because they helped us at some point in our lives; and because we had a celebration and felt happiness with their help. Thank you so much to TV5.)
Move to GTV
Vice Ganda also hinted at a “grand opening” for their first episode on GMA’s GTV Channel, saying it is their way of “spoiling” Madlang People and returning the support they have been giving to the show.
“Nung sinabi nila [Tita Cory Vidanes] na nagkaroon sila ng deal with GTV, sabi ko, ‘Di ba sabi ko sa inyo, hindi pwedeng walang magpapakita ng interes do’n sa binitawang gem.’ [‘It’s Showtime] is a gem,” he said.
(When Tita Cory Vidanes informed me that they had a deal with GTV Channel, I told [my “It’s Showtime” family], “As I have said, it’s impossible that no one would show interest in a gem. ‘It’s Showtime’ is a gem.)
(It feels good to know that they believe in the “It’s Showtime” brand. Because if they didn’t, they could have just ignored us given that they already have [high ratings] without us. But they showed interest, noticed and accepted us.)
Vice Ganda then expressed his gratitude to GMA for opening its doors to “It’s Showtime,” with the comedian revealing that he requested to appear in a certain GMA show. However, he did not immediately disclose the program he was referring to.
“Sana matuloy at feeling ko ang daming nag-aabang no’n,” he continued. “Kung mapagbibigyan, edi ang ganda. Kaya abangan nating lahat!”
(I hope it will push through, and I feel like many people have been waiting for that. If they would allow me, then that would be great. So let’s all watch out for that!) /ra
