Joey de Leon said that he, Tito Sotto and Vic Sotto are celebrating their more than four-decade stint as noontime show hosts this year, a milestone he seemingly urged others to measure up to.
De Leon shared an artwork showing the trio in their younger years, through his Instagram page on Wednesday, June 21.
“Sa totoo lang, ipinagkakapuri naming ipahayag na sa kasalukuyan (To be honest, we are very proud to announce that) TVJ is [currently] celebrating our 47th or 48th year as noontime show hosts starting with ‘Student Canteen’ up to ‘EAT (Eto Ang Tunay) BULAGA!’,” he said in the caption.
“Sana’y mapantayan niyo man lang. Try niyo lang,” De Leon dared without naming anyone specifically. (I hope you can match that. You can try.)
In a separate post, the TV host also showed a throwback photo of TVJ stitched to a photo taken from the recent media conference for the trio’s upcoming show on TV5.
“You cannot spell ‘tape’ without EAT, and you cannot spell ‘heart’ without EAT,” he wrote, seemingly alluding to production company TAPE, with which they are currently in feud.
De Leon’s posts were greeted with support from fans who underscored how no one can match TVJ as hosts.
TVJ, along with the other original “Eat Bulaga” mainstays, is set to launch their new noontime show on TV5 on July 1. The title of the program will be unveiled on the same day. /ra
