Sharon Cuneta to play mother to Alden Richards in first movie together

Megastar Sharon Cuneta and Kapuso actor Alden Richards are both excited for their upcoming film—their first together—in which they are set to play mother and son.
In an Instagram post, the award-winning actress revealed that the project with her “movie son” will be produced by Cineko Productions under the direction of Nuel Naval. Naval’s frequent collaborator Mel Mendoza-Del Rosario wrote the film’s script.
The veteran actress-singer uploaded photos of herself with co-star Richards, Naval, Mendoza-Del Rosario, and “[w]orkshop [f]acilitator” actress Ina Feleo, who had previously worked with Richards.
“Thank You Lord for a great project! Super excited!!! [praying hands emoji] [smiling emoji with three hearts] [heart emoji],” Cuneta concluded her post’s caption.

In the comments section, fans of both Cuneta and Richards expressed their excitement for the big screen debut of the actors’ collaboration. Cuneta’s good friend, actress Jackie Lou Blanco, also celebrated the announcement. “Yay Mama!!!! [smiling emojis with three hearts],” she commented, to which Cuneta replied, “Mama, niiiiice!!! [heart emoji].”

With not much disclosed about the project, one user asked who will be playing the actress’ leading man, as another claimed, “Mega-mom [Cuneta], parang pang leading lady ka pa ni Alden. [winking face emojis].” (Mega-mom, it seems you can still be Alden’s leading lady.)

The “Start-Up PH” star also uploaded a snap with Cuneta on his Instagram page, which he captioned “Excited for this…@reallysharoncuneta,” alluding to the upcoming Nuel Naval feature.

Last year, Cuneta was reported as slated to co-produce and star in the film adaptation of “The Mango Bride,” a novel by Marivi Soliven. Richards is also set to star opposite Julia Montes in the film “Five Breakups and a Romance,” and will serve as the host of GMA’s upcoming reality talent competition “Battle of the Judges.” /ra
