Shane Bernabe of Team Bamboo Mañalac, also known as Kamp Kawayan among fans, emerged as the winner of “The Voice Kids” season five.

The 12-year-old singer bested two other finalists before being proclaimed champion of the singing competition last Sunday, May 21, as seen in an announcement shared on its official Twitter page.

“Congratulations to our The Voice Kids Philippines Season 5 Grand Champion — SHANE BERNABE! #KampKawayan #TVKPH5GrandChampion,” its caption read.

During the show’s finals night, Bernabe was proclaimed as the winner over Xai Martinez from KZ Tandingan’s team and Rai Fernandez from Martin Nievera’s team.

The Laguna-based singer brought the audience to its feet after performing a rendition of the song “Sino Ang Baliw” by Mon Del Rosario. She will take home a recording contract from UMG Philippines and ₱1 million in cash.

Moments after Bernabe’s win, Mañalac took to his Instagram account to express his gratitude to fans for supporting the young songstress. This marks the second time the singer’s bet was named as the winner.

“Thank you,” he wrote.

The local franchise of the famed “The Voice” competition features the country’s big-name musicians, with their chairs turned back, as they search for the next sensation solely based on their singing voices. EDV
