Nora Aunor looked back on her many years in show business and could not help but compare the difference between the actors then and now, especially when it comes to being respectful.

Aunor, dubbed as the Superstar, spoke about the genuine friendship she shares with a very few people in the showbiz industry, during a conversation with fellow actress Snooky Serna, as seen on the latter’s vlog last May 6.

“Wala ako halos naging close na artista talaga kundi si Kuya Germs pati ‘yung mga nakasama kong mga artista no’ng araw pa,” Aunor said, referring to the late German Moreno.  (I did not grow quite close to a lot of actors except for Kuya Germs and my fellow actors back then.)

Serna pointed out that many actors might want to be friends with Aunor but that they are just too “shy” to approach the veteran actress. Reflecting on this, Aunor then continued by giving her two cents on the actors from this generation.

“Marami sa mga kabataang artista kasi ngayon na minsan nauuna ba—hindi tulad natin na ‘yung mga artista no’ng araw,” Aunor stated. “Mabibilang mo lang ‘yung mga artistang talagang may respeto. Ngayon kasi ‘yung mga kabataan dadaan-daanan ka na nga lang e.”

(Many young actors today seem to sometimes get ahead, unlike us back then. There are only a few young stars who really show respect. The youth now would just walk past you.)

Serna nodded in agreement as she lamented how some of the young stars seem to find it hard to greet senior actors. Aunor then noted how respect should be given not just to older actors but to everyone.

“Respeto lang kasi importante sa atin ‘yan e, ‘yung magkaroon ng respeto sa kapwa. Kahit na nga hindi ka artista kailangan mo pa rin magkaroon ng respeto sa kapwa,” Aunor said. (Respecting other people is important for us. Even if you are not an actor, you should still respect others.)

Nora Aunor, who has been in show business for 55 years, is best known for her films “Himala,” “Bulaklak sa City Jail,” “Bona,” “Bilangin ang mga Bituin sa Langit” and “Thy Womb,” among many others.  /ra
