Gardo Versoza poked fun at the false claims about his death by showing an old photo of him making a funny face while inside a coffin.

“Pumanaw na raw sa balita (I have already died according to reports),” he captioned his Instagram post on Friday, April 28, adding a grinning and laughing face emoji.

Versoza’s wife, Ivy Vicencio, also disproved the false reports through an exclusive statement to Philippine Entertainment Portal, saying they were shocked when they suddenly received several phone calls about the actor’s supposed death.

“Huwag po sila basta maniniwala sa mga balita. Mas OK po na magbasa at makibalita sa mga reliable source,” she was quoted as saying. “Alam ko pong hindi lang naman si Gardo ang biktima ng mga ganyang balita pero sana, mag-isip-isip muna ang mga tao na gumagawa niyan.”

(The public should not believe such reports right away. It’s better to read reports from reliable sources. I know that Gardo is not the only one who became a victim of a death hoax. I hope those who make false reports should think thoroughly before doing such.)

Versoza suffered from a heart attack in March due to “too much exercise.” At the time, the actor underwent angioplasty, a procedure that widens and unblocks narrowed or obstructed arteries and veins to restore proper blood flow. He is set to undergo another angioplasty, and is currently raising funds for his medical expenses.  /ra
