A sheepish Ken Chan confessed that he almost got into a fistfight with Jake Vargas because of a mystery woman in the past, although he clarified that they are already on good terms.

Chan made the confession during the “Trip to the Hot Seat” segment of the Kapuso variety show “Sarap ‘Di Ba,” where a clip of his confession was uploaded on ATM (Adventure.Taste.Moments)’s official YouTube channel last April 22.

During the segment, the actor lost in a round of musical chairs with Paul Salas, Mikee Quintos, and Mavy Legaspi, where he was asked to answer a burning hot seat question from host Carmina Villaroel.

“Totoo bang muntik na kayong magsapakan ni Jake Vargas dahil sa isang babae (Is it true that you and Jake Vargas almost got into a scuffle because of a woman)?” Villaroel asked, to which she immediately followed up with “Hala, kailan ‘to? Teka, totoo ba ‘to (Wait, when did this happen? Is it true)?”

Chan, who appeared to be laughing in embarrassment, confirmed that it did happen in 2014, but that they have already regained their friendship afterwards. He, however, did not disclose the identity of the woman they fought over.

“Matagal na,” he began. “Nagkaayos na kami ni Jake [Vargas] noong nagkaroon kami ng teleserye na ‘Ang Dalawang Ikaw.’ Doon na kami nakapag-usap nang maayos. Pero ‘yung incident, that was 2014,” he added.

(Yeah, it happened a long time ago. Jake Vargas and I became okay when we worked in the teleserye “Ang Dalawang Ikaw,” where we talked things out. But the incident happened in 2014.)

The actor then revealed that the woman was Vargas’ ex before he entered into the picture, however, he clarified that the actual fistfight did not happen between the two of them.

“Sila kasi noon ni [Jake Vargas], tapos noong wala na sila, saka ako pumasok. Sure naman akong wala na sila, pero hindi ko alam na may nararamdaman pa si Jake doon sa girl,” he said.

(The woman used to be with Jake Vargas. And then when I broke up, that’s when I entered the picture. I’m sure that they’ve broken up for good, although I wasn’t aware that Jake still had feelings for her.)

Because of the woman, the Kapuso actors were not on good terms for “about seven years,” before they eventually decided to patch up their friendship.

“So, hindi kami nagpansinan ni Jake nang matagal, about seven years, pero kapatid ko ‘yun si Jake eh. Mas mahalaga siya sa’kin kasi naging anak-anakan kami ni [German Moreno]. [And then], nag-usap kami. Nag-sorry kami sa isa’t isa, and sabi namin mas mahalaga ang pagiging ‘magkapatid’ namin dalawa,” he said.

(Jake and I didn’t talk to each other for about seven years. But Jake is like my own brother. He’s more important to me because we were considered as the “children” of German Moreno. And then we decided to talk it out. We said sorry to each other, and we decided that our brotherhood is more important.)

Prior to entering GMA Network, he used to appear in commercials while studying at the De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde.

The Filipino-Chinese actor is best known for his appearances in the dramas “My Special Tatay,” “Tween Hearts,” and “Destiny Rose.” EDV
