If there’s one thing that Kaila Estrada and Angela Ken learned about love, it’s that to love oneself to be able to give more love to another person.
During an online press conference for “Love Bites Season 2,” their new digital drama anthology, the actresses said that the worst thing about love is giving too much of oneself into the relationship that they would forget about their own needs to compensate for their partner’s lack.
“Love is a choice,” Estrada said. “Actually, the worst thing that you can do kapag nagmamahal ka is makalimutan mo ‘yung sarili mo.” (Actually, the worst thing about love is to forget about yourself).
Ken echoed the same sentiment, saying, “Siguro ‘yung worst na masasabi mong ginawa mo para sa pagmamahal, same po doon sa answer ni ate Kai. So, ako na lang po muna.” (Maybe the worst that you can say that you did for love, it’s the same answer as ate Kai’s. So, it’s me first).
“I feel like you need to learn to love yourself also kasi hindi mo mabibigay ‘yung love na gusto mo, hindi magiging healthy ‘yung love na mabibigay mo kung hindi mo uunahin na mahalin ang sarili mo,” Estrada said. (I feel like you need to learn to love yourself also because you will not be able to give the love that you want, it will not be a healthy love that you will give if you don’t prioritize yourself first).
Ken could only agree as “that is very true,” saying loving the right person is also a factor.
“Ang tamang pagmamahal ay ibinibigay sa tamang tao. Kung tamang tao siya para sa iyo, magkakaron ka rin ng tamang pagmamahal para sa sarili mo. Hindi lang tayo dapat bigay nang bigay. Hindi lang tayo dapat kuha nang kuha. Dapat balanse. Para sa akin, dapat ang pagmamahal balanse,” she explained. (The right love should be given to the right person.if he’s the right person for you, you will also have the right love for yourself. We should not always give and give. We should not always take and take. There should be a balance. For me, there should be balance in love).
Ken is featured in “Boy Next Door” episode with LA Santos, while Estrada is in “Closure” episode with Joao Constancia and Chie Filomeno.
