BGYO says no competition with HORI7ON: ‘Mag-kapamilya po kami’

“Magnet” hitmakers BGYO have nothing but support for HORI7ON, a boy group that was formed through the reality show “Dream Maker,” even if they are managed by the same label.

BGYO’s Mikki, JL, and Akira expressed their support for the septet during an ambush interview with reporters, when they were asked about the latter’s upcoming debut in South Korea.

“We are happy for them kasi pinaghirapan nila lahat ng mga ginawa nila, and it reminded us of the old days when we were teens,” Mikki began. “So, supportive kami sa HORI7ON because sobrang bait nila and pinaghirapan po nila ‘yung ginagawa nila.”

Meanwhile, JL acknowledged that while it’s normal to be compared to other groups, he stressed that BGYO is “super close” with the “Dream Maker” alums.

“Normal naman po sigurong maco-compare [kami] ng fans. But at the end of the day, magka-kapamilya po kami. Nasa iisang network and sobrang okay kami ng HORI7ON. Super close kami. Kapag nagkikita kami, talagang nagbabatian kami,” he added.

(It’s normal for us to be compared among fans. But at the end of the day, we’re one family. We are part of the same network and we’re very okay with HORI7ON. We’re very close. We make it a point to greet one another everytime we see each other.)

BGYO and HORI7ON are both managed by ABS-CBN, as well as their sister group BINI. The “Dream Maker” alums are also managed by South Korean music label MLD Entertainment, and they will debut in South Korea this coming June.

The five-member group, consisting of Gelo, Akira, JL, Mikki, and Nate, is known for their hit songs “He’s Into Her,” “Be Us,” and “The Light,” and are set to mark their second debut anniversary is May.

On the other hand, HORI7ON is composed of Kim, Vinci, Marcus, Jeromy, Kyler, Reyster, and Winston. They recently released their pre-debut singles “Dash” and “Salamat,” where the latter was featured on the final episode of the reality show.

The boy groups appeared together in ABS-CBN events including the Star Magical Prom in March 2023 and an episode of the morning show “Magandang Buhay.” EDV
