EXO’s Sehun has firmly denied the rumors that he got an alleged girlfriend pregnant, as South Korean music label SM Entertainment is set to take “strong legal action.”
Earlier this week, an anonymous individual claimed to be Sehun’s girlfriend on social media as she posted a photo of a man with his face covered, according to a report from Korean media outlet Sports Chosun. Another anonymous post alleged to have seen an unnamed K-pop idol accompanying someone to an OB-GYN or obstetrics-gynecology clinic. The posts have since been deleted, as of this writing.
Sehun’s label, SM Entertainment, responded to the rumors in an official statement via Sports Chosun on Monday, March 27, saying that the claims are “false and completely groundless.”
“The rumors circulating online about Sehun are false and completely groundless. This is a definite criminal act of distributing malicious false information. Although the posts have been deleted, we are continuously monitoring [to figure out] the original poster as well as those who distribute the rumors. We will be taking strong legal action,” SM was quoted as saying, according to a translation via Soompi.
The “Go” singer also denied the allegations in the fan community platform Bubble on the same day, per British music platform NME, saying that he’s “very angry” about the rumors. “I’m very angry that this situation came about after being quiet, but I want to tell you not to even misunderstand,” he said in the report.
The EXO member then expressed his dismay over the “nonsense posts” on his Instagram account on Tuesday, March 28, saying that he’s looking towards taking legal action as well.
“Nonsense posts have been circulating online the past few days, and I felt that I should take legal action to end this right away. My fans are also aware of this, but there is a woman who has been going around pretending to be my girlfriend for the past few years,” he said, per a Soompi translation.
Sehun also stressed that he doesn’t “know [the individual at all],” as he called out the netizen for claiming that they are in a relationship.
“She uploads posts and [writes] on social media like we are in a relationship, and I knew about this because I heard about her. I do not know her at all, but just letting it all go as an insignificant matter has caused this situation to blow up to this point,” he said.
“I am clearly stating that all the photos and posts circulating on the internet are not me,” he further added.
Sehun debuted as the lead dancer, visual, and lead rapper of EXO, who was recently included in Watchmojo’s “Best Modern Boy Bands” list, in April 2012.
The 28-year-old K-pop idol also made his debut as a member of the boy group’s sub-unit EXO-SC with bandmate Chanyeol in July 2019. EDV
