Vin Abrenica tells Kylie Padilla not to hold her punches during their fight scenes
Vin Abrenica remained on good terms with his former sister-in-law Kylie Padilla, the estranged wife of his older brother Aljur, even joking about wanting the actress to express her full fury towards him instead whenever they film their fight scenes in their newest teleserye “Ang Lihim ni Urduja.”
Abrenica appeared to have taken the comments about working with Padilla in stride, as seen on a clip of his interview with GMA’s entertainment reporter, Nelson Canlas’ Instagram account on Thursday, March 2.
“Alam mo ba, habang nage-eksena kami sa [Ang Lihim ni Urduja], sabi raw [ng netizens], ‘Oh, ayan na [Kylie]. Gumanti ka na sa kapatid.’ Nasa eksena ako, parang anong pinagsasasabi nito,” the actor said between laughs. (Did you know that whenever Kylie and I appear together on “Ang Lihim ni Urduja,” netizens would say, “There it is, Kylie. Retaliate towards Aljur’s brother instead.” I was doing a scene, what were you saying?)
The “Wildflower” star also revealed that he would tease Padilla whenever they film their fight scenes, where he jokingly requested the latter to release her anger to him instead.
“I find it super funny kasi binibiro ko na nga si [Kylie Padilla] ng ‘Oh, Kakai, kamukha ko naman, diba? Ilabas mo na lang sa akin,’” he said, referring to the actress’ pet name.

Padilla is included in the show’s main characters as a policewoman assigned to the law enforcement, while Abrenica stars as bounty hunter Onyx.
Prior to the teleserye, Vin admitted on a Feb. 15 episode of the talk show “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” that he and his wife, Sophie Albert, received negative comments during their wedding amid the height of Aljur’s controversy. The younger Abrenica also revealed that nothing changed between him and Kylie, saying they remained close despite the latter’s breakup with his brother.
“We bring our children sa mall to play. And we even lived together in one house at a certain point. But kung ano man ang nangyayari sa kanila [ni Aljur] (But no matter what happens between them with Aljur), I got so hurt with that; wala kaming ilangan ni Kylie. We’re close,” he added.
Kylie and Aljur, who wed in December 2018, reportedly called it quits in April 2021, although their breakup was made public by the actress’ father, Sen. Robinhood Padilla in July of the same year. EDV
