Lady Gaga is set to hit the screen as Harley Quinn in the upcoming film “Joker: Folie à Deux,” as American director Todd Phillips shared a first glimpse of the pop star as the titular comic book character.
The filmmaker took to his personal Instagram account on Wednesday, Feb. 15, to share a never-before-seen photo of Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix as Harley Quinn and Joker, respectively. The first glimpse showed the actors at what appeared to be a passionate moment where the lead stars’ faces were marked with lipstick smudges.
“Happy Valentines’ Day,” Phillips said in the caption.
The “Bad Romance” hitmaker also shared a sneak peek at the film on her official Twitter page on the same day, captioning it with the sequel’s title.

The casting of the singer, who was born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, was confirmed in August 2022 through a musical clip showing silhouettes of Phoenix and Gaga’s characters moving along to the beat of the song “Cheek to Cheek.”
Serving as the sequel to the 2019 film, the musical “Joker: Folie à Deux” is slated for release in October 2024.
Filming for “Joker 2” commenced in December 2022, as confirmed by Phillips through an Instagram post.
The DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures will feature Phoenix and Zazie Beetz reprising their characters as Arthur Fleck/Joker and Sophie Dumond, respectively. The film also stars Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland and Harry Lawtey in undisclosed roles. /ra
