South Korean actress Park Min-young is being investigated by authorities in her country for involvement in embezzlement activities allegedly committed by her ex-boyfriend, businessman Kang Jong-hyun, who owned Korea’s largest cryptocurrency trading company Bithumb.

Reports by Korean media stated that the 41-year-old Kang was arrested in early February on embezzlement and fraud charges. His brother Ji-yeon, meanwhile, runs a blockchain platform Inbiogen that also deals with cryptocurrency, and which is the biggest shareholder in Bithumb.

While the two have already separated after going public in September last year, the “Healer” star was still invited for questioning on suspicion that she was complicit in Kang’s alleged illegal activities after her name was found on a list of bank accounts that made substantial convertible bond transactions with Bithumb from which she may have gained profit.

In a statement obtained by Korean entertainment portal Soompi, the 38-year-old actress’ agency Hook Entertainment denied that Park had any involvement in any criminal activities, and that she was merely summoned by prosecutors on February 13 in her capacity as witness.

Park’s management also claimed she is not being prohibited from leaving the country pending the investigation.

“We will inform you about our agency’s actress Park Min Young’s prosecution summons for investigation and prohibition of departure as was reported through the press on February 14 (Tuesday). Park Min Young dutifully completely the prosecution summons for investigation as a simple witness, and we confirm that she is currently not prohibited from leaving the country,” the statement read.

Aside from “Healer,” Park also appeared in “Love in Contract” which was shown last year. EDV
