Willie Revillame showed a longer clip from his 2020 interview with former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, stressing that the “spliced video,” which resurfaced on social media, was intended to put him in a bad light.

The TV host said he decided to show both the spliced video and the longer version, which supposedly includes a necessary part of his conversation with Roque, to remind the public to be cautious about what they consume on social media.

“Advice ko sa inyo, may mga video na ini-edit nila [at] napapasama ‘yung ibang tao kasi hindi naman ‘yun ‘yung totoo,” he stated during an episode of his show “Wowowin” on Thursday, Feb. 9. (Here’s my advice to all of you: there are edited videos that make other people look bad [but these videos do not show] the truth.)

However, instead of the supposed edited video, a staff member mistakenly flashed a clip of comedian Ogie Diaz talking about Revillame and his recent “set aside politics” remark. Revillame then expressed dismay at the staff, saying he would receive criticisms from Diaz again due to the staff’s mistake.

“‘Yun ‘yung ni-edit. Hindi nila ipinakita ‘yung totoo,” the TV host said after a clip of the spliced video was shown. “Ganyan talaga, wawasakin ka, sisirain ka ng kapwa mo.” (That’s what they edited. They did not show the truth. Well, that’s how it is — people will discredit and speak ill of you.)

The longer version then showed Revillame telling Roque who was laughing while alluding to ABS-CBN’s franchise loss, “Malaki ang utang na loob ko sa istasyon na ‘yon dahil do’n ako nagsimula, do’n ako nakilala, nasa puso ko pa rin ‘yan.” (I am indebted to that network because I started and became known there, they still have a place in my heart.)

“‘Yung kumakalat ngayon sa social media, ini-splice, ni-edit. Ang ipinakita ‘yung parang pinagtatawanan ko po ‘yung prangkisa, na hindi ko naman po pwedeng gawin ‘yon,” Revillame reiterated. “Nadinig niyo naman ‘yung totoo.”

(The video that’s currently making rounds on social media was edited. It showed that I was laughing over its franchise [loss] but I cannot do that. You already heard the truth.)

“Ito ‘yung mga aral—talagang pwede kang sirain anytime sa social media. ‘Yung clickbait na pasasakayin ka—ito ‘yung front page tapos hindi pala ‘yon ‘yung storya—gano’n ‘yung nangyayari,” he said, admitting he was also a victim of such which caused his recent misunderstanding with showbiz columnist Cristy Fermin.

(The lesson from this is that you can be discredited anytime on social media. Clickbait—contents having [sensationalized] front pages which are not the actual story—fool people, that’s what’s happening now.)

Diaz then seemed to have just laughed off the mistake made by Revillame’s staff while on air, as per the comedian’s Instagram Stories.

Revillame earlier addressed the critics he said he once loved and helped out in the past but are now speaking ill of him. These critics were later revealed to be Fermin and Diaz.

Meanwhile, Fermin said that the other personality Revillame was referring to was Gab Valenciano, but the TV host has yet to confirm or deny this as of this writing.  /ra
