After several months of speculation, Jennica Garcia finally confirmed her separation from actor Alwyn Uytingco, her ex-husband and father of her two daughters, despite their efforts at reconciliation.
Garcia first split from Uytingco in May 2021, but in October of that same year, Uytingco said that he is trying to get back with Garcia.
However, things appeared to not have worked out between the two.
In an interview on “Hotspot” which was uploaded on ABS-CBN’s official YouTube channel, Garcia said that she no longer considers Uytingco as her husband since they are no longer “romantically linked,” but she declined to comment further on the cause of their breakup in deference to his family.
“Hindi na po talaga kami mag-asawa [ni Alwyn]. And feeling ko na marami ang nagugulat pero matagal na po. Magda-dalawang taon na po [kaming magkahiwalay] (Alwyn and I are not married anymore. I feel that many would be shocked about this but it’s been a long time since then. It’s been about two years),” she said.
“Hindi na siya bago. Nagkataon lang na hindi ako nagsasalita about it. Pero para hindi na rin siya mapag-usapan ulit kasi gusto ko na rin talaga na moving forward, huwag na lang siyang pag-usapan pa,” she said. “Kasi hindi na rin naman iisa ang buhay naming dalawa ngayon since we’re no longer romantically linked to one another.”
(It’s not new. It’s just that I’m not talking about it. But for the sake of the topic to not be opened up again, I just want to ask to not touch on it anymore moving forward. Because we are living separate lives since we’re no longer romantically linked to one another.)
Despite their breakup, the “Dirty Linen” star said she still considers Uytingco and his loved ones as family.
“Ayaw ko na po kasing dumating sa punto na hindi ako makakatingin kay Mama Liza, ‘yung mommy ni Alwyn. Ayaw kong dumating ‘yung araw na hindi ako makakatingin sa mata niya dahil may nasabi akong hindi maganda tungkol sa anak niya. Dahil natapos man ‘yung marriage namin, hindi naman sila kasama doon. Kumbaga, in my mind, they will always be family. It is just that hindi na kami mag-asawa ni Alwyn,” she added.
(I don’t want to get to a point where I can’t look at Mommy Liza, Alwyn’s mommy, in the eye. I don’t want the time to come when I can’t look her in the eye just because I said something bad about her son. Our marriage has already ended, and they’re not a part of my life anymore. In my mind, they will always be family. It is just that Alwyn and I are no longer husband and wife.)
The ex-couple, who got married in 2014, sparked reconciliation rumors in July 2021 after they were spotted with their children in Rizal. The actor then thanked his ex-wife for giving him a “second chance” in October of the same year.
