David Licauco would court Barbie Forteza if she were single: ‘I like smart, go-getter, cute girls’

David Licauco confessed that his “Maria Clara at Ibarra” love team partner Barbie Forteza is the type of girl he would want to date, saying he would definitely court the actress if she were single.
The actor made this revelation during his and Forteza’s interview with King of Talk Boy Abunda for his show “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on Monday, Feb. 6.
“Halimbawa, single si Barbie, liligawan mo siya?” Abunda asked Licauco. (What if Barbie were single? Would you court her?)
“I like smart, go-getter na mga babae, and I like cute girls, simple lang. So…,” he answered while nodding. “Gano’n si Barbie, so yeah.” (I like smart, go-getter, cute and simple girls. Barbie possesses all these qualities, so yes.)
Abunda, who addressed Forteza’s boyfriend Jak Roberto and clarified that the questions were just hypothetical, then went on to ask the actress if she would say yes to Licauco if he courted her.
“Siguro ‘pag nakilala ko pa siya deeper, ‘pag naging close pa siya sa family ko and all—basta ‘pag nalaman ko kung paano siya manligaw, maybe I’ll have an answer then. But now, we’re really good friends,” she responded.
(Maybe if I get to know him deeper, and if he would [build a closer relationship] with my family and all—when I get to know how he courts a woman, maybe I’ll have an answer then. But now, we’re really good friends.)
During the episode, Forteza also sat with Abunda for the “Fast Talk” segment where the TV host asked whether or not the actress’ love team with Licauco makes Roberto jealous.
“No,” she immediately replied. However, when Abunda followed up and asked when was the last time she lied, the actress admitted, “Now.”
Licauco’s ex-girlfriend
Meanwhile, Licauco was then put in the hot seat when Abunda brought up the actor’s breakup with his most recent girlfriend. Licauco, who was initially taken aback by Abunda’s knowledge of his past relationship, opted not to name anyone specifically, but the TV host mentioned that the woman comes from a very private family.
Licauco and his ex-girlfriend apparently broke up, got back together, then called it quits again. Abunda then revealed that a guy, who he and Licauco know, was involved in the split.
“Yes, I would say that was the reason behind the breakup,” Licauco confirmed. “I mean, among other things, [that was the] main reason.”
Abunda also noted that the woman already wanted to settle down, whereas Licauco was still not ready to do so.
“Yes, I’m not ready. Go-getter kasi ako and mas gusto ko ‘yung career muna,” he stressed. (I’m a go-getter and I want to prioritize my career.)
“Pero nag-selos ka ba do’n sa isang aktor? (But were you jealous of the other actor?)” the TV host then asked, to which Licauco replied, “Yes, for sure. Syempre (Of course).”
Licauco plays the character Fidel, while Forteza portrays the role of Klay in “Maria Clara at Ibarra.” Other cast members of the hit historical TV series include Julie Anne San Jose, Dennis Trillo, Juancho Triviño, Andrea Torres, Tirso Cruz III and Manilyn Reyes. /ra
