Sharon Cuneta stressed that while she is proud that her daughter KC Concepcion has grown to be an independent woman, the Megastar still prays for the younger actress to find her “true love.”
The veteran actress-singer opened up about her relationship with her firstborn in an interview with show hosts Regine Velasquez, Jolina Magdangal and Melai Cantiveros, as seen in an episode of the morning talk show “Magandang Buhay” on Thursday, Jan. 26.
“Para kaming polar opposites, magkaibang-magkaiba kami pero nabubuo kami ng love namin for each other. There are a lot of things na she and her papa are very much alike, pero anak ko ito e,” Cuneta stated, referring to KC’s dad, actor Gabby Concepcion. “Bali-baliktarin man ang mundo, isa lang ang nanay mo at siya lang ang panganay ko.”
(We’re like polar opposites, we really differ in so many ways, but we are united by our love for each other. There are a lot of things that she and her papa are very much alike, but she’s my daughter. Even if the world turns upside down, I’m [her] mom and she’s my firstborn.)
Cuneta recounted how she had to work while KC was growing up because the Megastar did not want to rely on her parents to provide for them. Cuneta then expressed pride that KC learned the same value from the example set by her mom.
“That’s why she knows how to work. She’s a hard worker and I’m proud of that,” she stated. “‘Yun ang naipamana ko, na you don’t need a man in order to survive pero I’m still praying, syempre. I want her to find true love.”

Meanwhile, speculations that KC is in a new relationship arose among fans after she was spotted with a guy in some of her YouTube vlogs. Cuneta then appeared to have further fueled the speculations after she shared a video from her birthday earlier this month, showing the same guy celebrating the occasion with their family.
KC has yet to confirm or deny these dating speculations as of this writing. /ra
