The camp of Alex Gonzaga has spoken up after being criticized for the now-deleted video showing her smearing cake icing on a waiter’s face during her birthday party that went viral on social media.
The video, which was uploaded on Dani Barretto’s Instagram Stories on Monday night, Jan. 16, showed Gonzaga smearing icing on a waiter’s forehead during an intimate 35th birthday party. The post is already deleted, however, netizens were quick to screen-record and repost the video.

In a statement by the Gonzaga family’s publicist Peter Ledesma via TV5’s MJ Marfori, the waiter who goes by the name Allan, is a friend of the controversial actress’ mother Pinty and the Soriano family.
“This Allan, one of the waiters of Florabel Resto and Catering Service in Valle Verde Pasig, is a friend of Mommy Pinty Gonzaga and Soriano family. Kaya majority of the event of Gonzaga and Soriano family ay sila ang kinukuha ni Mommy Pinty na mag-cater ng food and beverages,” he said.
(This Allan, one of the waiters of Florabel Resto and Catering Service in Valle Verde Pasig, is a friend of Mommy Pinty Gonzaga and Soriano family. This is why the waiter usually is included in the majority of the events of the Gonzaga and Soriano families.)
Ledesma clarified that Allan had always joked around with the Gonzaga family since he has been serving them for years.
“At itong si Allan ay laging kabiruan ni Mommy Pinty and Alex at ito ang parating nagse-serve sa kanila. Kaya tuwing nagkikita ay binabati agad ni Allan ang mag-mommy, magiliw ito sa kanila,” he said.
(Allan had always joked around with Mommy Pinty and Gonzaga since he always serves them. This is why when he greets them on special occasions, he is friendly towards them.)
The publicist also stressed that Gonzaga would never smear cake icing on a face of someone she does not know.
“Hindi naman magagawa ni Alex ang magbiro at magpunas ng cake, kung hindi sila magkakilala ng said waiter, na sanay na sa pagiging mapagbiro at kikay ni Alex. This is the side of Mommy Pinty na higit na nakakaalam ng istorya ng anak. And one more thing ay hindi totoong lasing si Alex na tulad ng pinalalabas ng kanyang detractors and bashers,” the publicist defended his ward.
(Alex would never joke around and smear cake icing if she doesn’t know the waiter at all. He has always been used to Alex’s antics and jokes. This is the side of Mommy Pinty who knows the side of her own daughter. And one more thing, Alex was not drunk as what her detractors and bashers would claim.)
Gonzaga herself has yet to issue a personal statement following the controversial video, however, she reposted some photos of her birthday celebration on social media on Tuesday, Jan. 17.

The controversial video also caught the attention of celebrities and content creators who expressed their respective points of view regarding the issue on their respective social media platforms.
Gonzaga was also at the receiving end of various insider accounts from netizens on social media, where some came forward to share their experiences of working with the actress. EDV
