Ogie Diaz lamented how scammers have gone “digital” as he warned against fake pages that used his name and photos to advertise products.
The comedian-talent manager informed the public of the fake accounts by showing screenshots of them through his Facebook page on Thursday, Jan. 10.
“Grabe na ang holdap ngayon. Nabawasan na sa kalye, nasa digital na sila,” he wrote. “Yung kainosentihan at kaignorantehan ng mga tao ang kanilang susi para makapambiktima ng mga nilalang.”
(The holdup schemes nowadays are alarming. Such cases on the streets have been lessened [because scammers] have gone digital. They are preying on their victims’ innocence and ignorance.)
Diaz has already sought help from his friends in reporting the fake accounts, but Facebook has yet to take the pages down.
“Gusto ko lang kayong warningan na ‘wag po kayong magpapaniwala dito. Kakapal ng mukha,” he stated. “Hindi po [ito] legit at lalong wala po akong kinalaman sa mga kung ano-anong ibinebenta ng fake pages na ito na ginagamit ako para makapambudol.”
(I just want to warn you to not trust these pages. [The scammers] are very shameless. These are not legitimate pages, and I am not associated with the products that these pages, which use me to deceive other people, are selling.)
“Sana, magtrabaho sila nang matino. Lumaban kaya kayo [nang] patas sa buhay, no? Mahirap ba yon?” he concluded. (I hope they’ll work decently [to earn]. Why don’t you fight fair and square? Is it that hard?)
Several other celebrities who have also fallen victim to posers and fake accounts include Angelica Panganiban, Camille Prats, Denise Laurel and Ogie Alcasid. /ra
