“Voltes V: Legacy” has found a new fan, this time in the Ambassador of Japan to the Philippines Koshikawa Kazuhiko, after it dropped its action-packed mega trailer last New Year’s Day.

Koshikawa expressed excitement over the release of GMA 7’s live-action adaptation of the hit anime “Voltes V,” by showing two action figures from the original series and reposting the mega trailer on his Twitter page yesterday, Jan. 6.

“Brings back childhood memories! Watching the trailer has made me shout ‘Let’s volt in!’ out of excitement,” Koshikawa stated.

Koshikawa added that he was looking forward to watching the series when it finally airs this year.

Back in December 2021, “Voltes V: Legacy” had also received praise from the original anime’s producer Toei Company, which stated they could feel the Filipino team’s respect for the original series.

“Voltes V: Legacy” is directed by Mark Reyes and written by Suzette Doctolero. It will star actors Miguel Tanfelix (Steve Armstrong) and Ysabel Ortega (Jamie Robinson) alongside Radson Flores (Mark Gordon), Matt Lozano (Big Bert Armstrong) and Raphael Landicho (Little Jon Armstrong).

The series’ premiere date is yet to be announced as of this writing.

“Voltes V,” the original Japanese anime from which the GMA series is based, follows four young heroes who defend Earth from enemies from faraway planets. The series was later shown on Philippine TV in the 1970s and earned a massive following.  /ra
