Performer unrecognizable from his ‘curated’ image
What you see isn’t always what you get in the entertainment biz. Take Charmless Champ (CC), who recently learned about the downside of his “carefully curated” and overly Photoshopped publicity photos.
CC hasn’t been seen on the local scene for some time. But after his successful but lengthy stint overseas, CC’s career-boosting opportunity lit a fire in his belly that soon jumpstarted a career resurgence of sorts.
Of course CC’s eager-beaver handler saw this as a rare opportunity to pitch his ward’s triumph to Seasoned Writer (SW). But when CC dropped by SW’s office for an interview, the lobby guards wouldn’t let CC in … because they said they didn’t know who he was. So CC had to call SW, who had to come to CC’s “rescue.”
After the interview, SW asked the guards why they didn’t let the former singing champ enter the office. One of them reasoned, “Siya pala ‘yun? Why doesn’t he look like the celebrity in his pictures? Maitim at hindi pala s’ya makinis.” Ouch naman, Mamang Guard!
