MANILA, Philippines—The P-pop group Alamat has had a phenomenal 2022. Their anthem “ABKD” won “Pop Song of the Year for Cultural Relevance” at the 7th PPop Awards, while their collaboration with singer Iñigo Pascual for “Itodo Mo Beat Mo” scored the “Best Music Video” award at the 27th Asian Television Awards.

The collaboration was for the official music video of season 5 of the TV program “Coke Studio Philippines.” The beverage company’s Philippine arm also featured the P-pop group at the “Christmas Finds Its Way” show held at the Greenfield District Central Park in Mandaluyong City earlier this month.

The group’s members spoke with the Inquirer before they went onstage to perform for the audience. In the quick interview, they shared their messages for their fans called “Magiliw,” as well as their respective New Year’s resolutions.

Mo, Taneo, Alas and R-ji all promised to “double” the work they are putting in, and to spend more time for their training.

Tomas, the youngest of the pack, said in jest he would ask for “double pay.” He then shared that he would exert more effort into his craft and to be better at what he is doing.

Jao, who marked his birthday this month with a cover feature on the magazine Parcinq, said, “I already love myself, so [I will just] become a better version of myself.”

Taneo, meanwhile, reminded their fans to embrace their being “Magiliws,” and to “appreciate everything that you have, appreciate your time with family.”

For his part, Mo said in Filipino, “May all your wishes come true, and love all your loved ones, and embrace the time you spend with family.”

Alas said he believes Alamat and the Magiliws will spend more holidays together, while R-ji reminded their followers to “always enjoy, and never forget to smile.”

Tomas, again in his playful self, told the Magiliws, “Don’t forget to always buy Coke,” while Jao thanked fans for their support, and said, “Know that we love you all, and we show this through our performances.”  /ra
