It is official! Lee Jong Suk’s agency confirmed that the actor is dating IU, after a local report claimed that the two spent the holidays together and have been dating for months.
Earlier today, Dec. 31, Korean entertainment site Dispatch released an exclusive report claiming that IU and Lee Jong Suk have been dating for “approximately four months,” as per Soompi.
HighZium Studio, which handles Lee Jong Suk, then released a statement to confirm the couple’s relationship, also via Soompi today.
“This is an official statement regarding the exclusive article about actor Lee Jong Suk. Actor Lee Jong Suk and IU recently progressed from being close acquaintances into being a couple, and they are maintaining a serious relationship. Please show lots of support so they can continue their beautiful relationship,” it stated.
The two reportedly met on the music program “Inkigayo” a decade ago, before their friendship eventually evolved into romance, as per Dispatch. It stated that the pair spent Christmas together in Nagoya, Japan, where they stayed for three days at a luxury resort, then showed photos of the pair at the airport on their way to and back from Nagoya.
It also said that the actor flew IU and her younger brother to Japan before joining them on the vacation that he had personally planned. Meanwhile, anonymous sources told Dispatch that the couple’s families were aware of the relationship.
Lee Jong Suk has starred in various K-dramas including “Big Mouth,” “Doctor Stranger” and “While You Were Sleeping.” Meanwhile, IU had appeared in the series “Hotel Del Luna,” “Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo,” and “Dream High,” among others. /ra
