The 48th edition of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) has returned to the streets, kicking off on Wednesday, Dec. 21, with the “Parade of Stars” that saw colorful floats of participating films lining up the street once more.
The parade, which covered a stretch of 7.36 kilometers from Welcome Rotonda-Quezon Avenue to the Quezon Memorial Circle, featured the colorful floats of eight local films participating in the festival.
Despite the cloudy weather, the streets were filled with excited supporters crowding to see their favorite local celebrities perched on their respective floats sporting designs that are based on this year’s film entries.
The parade kicked off with the float of “Family Matters” starring Noel Trinidad, Liza Lorena, Noni Buencamino, Mylene Dizon, Agot Isidro, and Nikki Valdez. The float follows the design of a Spanish-style house, however, Trinidad and Lorena were not present during the event.
The vintage cinema-inspired float of “My Father, Myself” featured Jake Cuenca, Sean de Guzman, and Tiffany Grey.
The bright float of “Partners with Crime,” starring Vice Ganda and Ivana Alawi, strutted next.
Meanwhile, Toni Gonzaga and Kakai Bautista greeted their supporters on the float of “My Teacher” which follows the design of a school bus.
On the other hand, excited cheers greeted the float of Coco Martin and Jodi Sta. Maria from the romantic-comedy film “Labyu With An Accent.”
Supporters of Nadine Lustre, McCoy de Leon, and Louise De Leon crowded the streets of Welcome Rotonda as the float of the upcoming horror film “Deleter” greeted fans.

“Nanahimik ang Gabi” lead stars Ian Veneracion, Heaven Peralejo, and Mon Confiado expressed their gratitude to fans via their “Parade of Stars” float on the streets, as they greeted supporters through a microphone.
The military-inspired float of “Mamasapano: Now It Can Be Told” was the last to make an appearance. Despite the absence of lead star Edu Manzano, the rest of the cast made sure to wave to their supporters.
The MMFF Parade of Stars signals the countdown to the film festival which will run from Dec. 25 to Jan. 7, 2023.
Following the theme “Balik Saya ang MMFF 2022,” the awards night of the 48th Metro Manila Film Festival will be held on Dec. 27. EDV
