Mariah Carey has made her annual return to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart for “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” and she is very grateful for achieving it for the fourth time around.

The American singer expressed her gratitude over dominating the digital chart again by showing herself with Billboard’s senior vice president of charts and data development, Silvio Pietroluongo, via her Twitter page yesterday, Dec. 15. Carey can be seen holding a plaque commemorating the holiday hit’s fourth time on the Billboard Hot 100.

“Grateful,” Carey said, along with a heart and lamb emoji.

Last Monday, Dec. 12, “All I Want for Christmas Is You” was announced as Billboard’s top song for this week. It is followed by Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” and Bobby Helms’ “Jingle Bell Rock” in the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, respectively.

“All I Want for Christmas Is You” was first released by Carey on her 1994 album “Merry Christmas,” then went on to become more prominent through streaming, as per Billboard.

The song hit the Hot 100’s top 10 for the first time in December 2017 and the top five for the first time in 2018’s holiday season. It then took over the top spot during the holidays in 2019 (three weeks), 2020 (two weeks) and 2021 (three weeks).

Recently, a multimillion-dollar copyright lawsuit related to “All I Want for Christmas Is You” was voluntarily dropped by songwriter Andy Stone of the band Vince Vance & the Valiants. This means the case will be dropped for now, but Stone may refile it in the future.  /ra
