Straight talk: How stars feel about same-sex marriage
Since I have a gay son, IC, it’s only natural that I am in favor of same-sex marriage. But it doesn’t mean I’m encouraging all gays and lesbians to get hitched.
What works for one couple may be disastrous to another. A happy third-sex partnership is far better than a marriage of heterosexuals with a third party on the side.
One love fits all. Why deprive the LBGT (Lesbian, Bisexual, Gay and Transgender) community of the basic right to pursue happiness?
Live and let live, love and let love!
Jennylyn Mercado: “It’s all about freedom, acceptance and love. Everybody deserves to be happy. Nandoon ako sa New York when they celebrated Gay Pride. Sobrang saya. You could feel the love all around you!”
Aiza Seguerra: “Of course I am for it, for obvious reasons. Pero hindi na ako after na matanggap ng simbahan. Enough na sa akin if my partner and I are able to enjoy the privileges and rights na meron ang married couples. Yun lang masaya na ako.”
Article continues after this advertisementDiana Meneses: “I’m straight but I give same-sex marriage a thumbs up. I’ll never be against people finding their soul mate, no matter what gender they are. We have to be open-minded enough to understand that it’s a natural human attraction and preference.”
Article continues after this advertisementJoey Reyes: “I believe happiness is a choice and a commitment. It is between the partners and the God they choose to believe in, and not any institution designed and ruled by men. Recognized contracts are necessary only to protect individual and joint interests of a couple, regardless of sex or their permutations. It is to ensure fairness by law and not a guarantee of love.”
Kim Atienza: “If the love is genuine, it is already solemnized in the eyes of God. There are many religions and sects that may solemnize the union but we cannot fault nor force the Catholic Church to say it’s okay because it is against their basic belief and dogma.”
Mr. Fu: “I really don’t mind if same-sex marriage will be solemnized in the Philippines but I don’t want to undergo that ceremony. I just want a forever partner in life who will be my friend, lover and soul mate. No need for wedding rituals and a marriage certificate. Baka mag-away pa kami kung sinong magsusuot ng wedding gown. May ganon?
New ‘Temptation’
GMA Films and Regal Entertainment blend glamour and comedy, adventure and romance in the much-anticipated remake of “Temptation Island,” which opens July 6.
The new cast sizzle and shine as they breathe new life to this modern interpretation of the Joey Gosiengfiao camp classic.
Marian Rivera takes on the role of the call girl originally played by Azenith Briones. Heart Evangelista is the virginal character portrayed by Dina Bonnevie. Lovi Poe is the rich socialite essayed by Jennifer Cortez. Solenn Heussaff is the social climber played by Bambi Arambulo. Rufa Mae Quinto is the bubbly nanny played by Deborah Sun.
Lead us not into temptation, all right, but the hilarious movie will lead us to the nearest cinema.
